Trusted Third Party Rules |

Below is a list of important instructions for the Trusted Third Party validation process. Please follow these instructions carefully to ensure that you are validated quickly. We recommend that you print or bookmark this page.
Remote Validation Instructions
Please note that you need to be validated by TWO "Trusted Third Parties", and that they need to meet the following requirements:
Bank Manager:
Must be the manager of a branch of registered banking institution. The branch must be listed as such in the local telephone directory
Practicing Attorney:
Must be registered with the State Bar Association or your country's equivalent, and currently practicing as an attorney. The attorney's law offices must be listed as such in the local telephone directory
CPA:
Must be licensed as a Certified Public Accountant with the relevant State or country authorities, and must be practicing as a CPA from an office that is listed as such in the local telephone directory
If you are at all unsure if your chosen Trusted Third Parties meet the requirements or if you are unable to find suitable Trusted Third Parties, please contact the thawte Web of Trust.
US notary public:
Limited to Notary Publics in States where the licensing status information is provided online by the appropriate licensing authority. You can find the list States that have online verification of Notary publics here.
Here are some of the rules and instructions:
- Possess 2 different, original and nationally recognized forms of photo-identification. Ideally these should be your passport and your drivers license. Student cards, employee badges and bank photo credit cards are not acceptable forms of identification. If you do not have two forms of photo-identity, then please e-mail the Web of Trust before you continue
- Make TWO photo-copies of each of your photo-identities
- Find 2 Trusted Third Parties who meet the requirements above, and who are willing to certify your identity to thawte
- Ask each of the Trusted Third Parties to complete a form, verify your photo-identity, sign the form and the copies of BOTH your photo-ids
- Ask each of the Trusted Third Parties to make a copy of the signed form and to keep it in a safe place for at most 30 days, or until thawte calls them to confirm their certification of your identity
- Checks are made out to " thawte Consulting" to the value of US$25. Please make sure the check is crossed. You can either post or fax your documents to us:
We will contact each of your Trusted Third Parties to verify their identity assertion, and will notify you by e-mail once the process is complete. If there are any problems we will contact you by e-mail.
Country Specific Restrictions
You are restricted from joining this program to the extent that the laws and regulations of your country and/or jurisdictions do not allow you to participate in the thawte Web of Trust program. By joining the thawte Web of Trust program you confirm that you are not in violation of the laws and regulations of your country and/or jurisdiction.
